Therapy for Older Adults, Life Transitions & Existential Concerns
Support for aging, loss, change, meaning, and the questions that matter most.
Later life can bring profound changes. Retirement, changes in health or independence, the loss of a spouse or loved one, shifting family roles, loneliness, caregiving, and questions about mortality can change how we understand ourselves and our lives.
It can also be a time of reflection, growth, and renewed attention to what matters most.
Therapy can provide a place to talk openly about these experiences—not simply as problems to solve, but as meaningful parts of being human.
Therapy for Older Adults
I welcome older adults seeking therapy for concerns such as:
grief and the loss of a spouse, partner, family member, or friend
retirement and changes in identity or purpose
anxiety, depression, loneliness, or isolation
changes in health, mobility, or independence
changing relationships with adult children and family
caregiving and caregiver stress
major life transitions
spirituality, faith, or changes in spiritual beliefs
questions about meaning, purpose, regret, and fulfillment
fear and uncertainty related to aging and mortality
You do not need to be in crisis or facing the end of life to benefit from this work. Sometimes therapy is simply a place to reflect on where you have been, where you are now, and how you want to live the chapter ahead.
Existential & End-of-Life Support
Illness, aging, loss, and awareness of mortality can bring questions that do not always have simple answers:
What has my life meant? What matters to me now? How do I live with uncertainty? What am I afraid of? What do I still want to experience, express, repair, or let go of?
These questions deserve space.
Our work may include exploring grief and fear, finding meaning amid change, talking openly about mortality, attending to unfinished emotional concerns, or developing a greater sense of peace and acceptance.
Spirituality & Meaning
For people who want to include spirituality in therapy, I offer a contemplative and spiritually open approach informed by many years of meditation practice and teaching.
There is no particular spiritual or religious belief you need to hold. Therapy can make room for your own beliefs, doubts, questions, practices, and experiences.
Psychedelic Preparation & Integration
For older adults who are considering psychedelic experiences, or who have already had one, therapy may also include preparation and integration when clinically appropriate.
This work can provide space to explore intentions, fears, insights, emotions, spiritual experiences, and how an experience might be meaningfully integrated into everyday life.
My Approach
My approach is grounded in compassion, mindfulness, curiosity, and respect for each person's individual history and worldview.
Later life is not only about coping with loss. It can also be a time for discovering new meaning, deepening relationships, making peace with the past, and deciding how you want to live now.
